A traditional funeral gives family and friends a place to be together, to say what needs to be said, and to take the first steps toward healing. We will plan every part of it with you, from the first phone call to the final committal.

We Handle the Details
Many choices follow a death. Our directors will guide you through them and handle the work behind the scenes.
- Transporting your loved one to the funeral home, at any hour
- Embalming and preparing for viewing, when you choose it, including dressing and cosmetic care
- Choosing a casket, burial vault and cemetery space
- Scheduling the opening and closing of the grave with the cemetery
- Coordinating with your clergy and arranging music
- Ordering funeral sprays and flower arrangements
- Writing the obituary and placing it in the newspapers you choose
- Arranging transportation and a police escort for the family

A Place to Gather Afterward
After the committal, many families gather at Shorac Family Center, directly across the street from the funeral home. Food service is available through local caterers, and our staff will help your family choose the buffet. See the Family Center.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why have a funeral?
A funeral gives family and friends a shared place to mourn and to support each other. It acknowledges the loss, honors the life, and is often the first step in healing. A funeral can be held even when cremation is chosen.
Does a body have to be embalmed by law?
No. Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. It may be necessary for a viewing, and your director will explain your options, including choices that do not require it.
Why have a public viewing?
Viewing is part of many cultural and religious traditions. Many families find it helps them accept the loss. Children are welcome to attend when the experience is explained to them and the choice is theirs.
Can the service be held at our church?
Yes. We routinely coordinate with churches and clergy, and the service can take place at the funeral home, the church or the cemetery.
