Obituary For Robert E. Ely

Robert E. Ely, 91, of Steubenville, OH died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Valley Hospice North.  He was born in Steubenville, OH on August 23, 1919 a son of the late Ellsworth Ely and Elsie Davies Ely Brockway.  Robert was retired from Columbia Gas after 25 years of service and was an U.S. Army veteran of WWII.  Preceded in death by his wife Helen Carducci Ely; sons Lou Joseph and James Patrick Ely; daughter Cheryl Maurice Ely Maris; brother George A. Ely; sister Jane Ely Brockway.  Robert is survived by his sons George Ely of Mt. Olive, WV, Robert Jr., John, and Edward Ely all of Steubenville; daughter Becky Ely of Steubenville; 19 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home (formerly McClave’s), 611 North 4th Street, Steubenville, OH on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday, 10a.m.  Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct graveside services.
