Michael Jay Klingensmith, 63, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2026. He was born on March 26, 1963, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Frank & Gertrude Klingensmith.

Uncle Mike, fondly referred to by his family, was a chef throughout his adult life, serving as head chef for various restaurants and country clubs in Pennsylvania, Maine, New Hampshire, and Ohio. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing. He was a sports fan and proudly rooted for all Pittsburgh sports teams and Penn State.

Mike is survived by his two sons, Frank (Mariah) Klingensmith of Maine and Dale Klingensmith of New York; two sisters, Lisa Mottillo of Pittsburgh & Lee Ann (Jim) Emmerling of Steubenville, Ohio; granddaughter Eleanor of Maine and several nieces, nephews & nephew dogs who adored him fully.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Gertrude Klingensmith, and sister Lisa Marangoni of Apollo, PA.

A private service will be held at Christ Rupp Lutheran Church in Kittanning, PA.
