Mary E. Sweeney, 71 of Wintersville, Ohio died Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Carriage Inn, Steubenville, Ohio. She was born in Clarksburg, WV on July 14, 1930 a daughter of the late James A. and E. Pauline Ford Finley. Mary was a member of Starkdale U.P. Church, Steubenville and retired from the former Standard Carbon Company, Wintersville, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one brother James A. Finley, Jr. and one sister Kate Rogers. Mary is survived by her husband Samuel J. Sweeney; one daughter Loretta K. (Dr. James) Cottrell of Piney Flats, TN; one grandson James “Jay” Cottrell of Piney Flats; one granddaughter Cerryn Cottrell of Steubenville, Ohio and her three sisters Dorothy Sterling of Bridgeport, WV, Millie (Charles) Posey of Bristol, WV and Beryl Hopewell of Glen Burnie, MD. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Clint Quillen officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
