Obituary For Marie G. Wright

Marie G. Wright, 84, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the Valley Hospice Care Center, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on July 28, 1941, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late Emmett and Ruth (Watt) Foster.

To know Marie was to love her. She truly never met a stranger. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone she met feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Whether you were family, a lifelong friend, or someone she had just met, you quickly felt like you belonged. Her warm smile, infectious laugh, and genuine interest in others drew people to her throughout her life.

Family was the center of Marie’s world. She found her greatest joy in gathering loved ones around her table, sharing stories, preparing home-cooked meals, and creating memories that her family will cherish forever. She loved to cook and bake, even winning awards for her famous zucchini cake, but those who knew her best will remember that what she truly loved was feeding the people she cared about.

Marie also had a lifelong love of dogs and spent many years training and showing them. She loved to laugh and had a remarkable ability to brighten every room she entered. Her greatest gift wasn’t what she did—it was how she made people feel. She had a way of making every person feel welcomed, important, and loved. Everyone who knew her left feeling just a little happier for having been with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Ruth Foster; her first husband, Arthur Da Grava, the father of her two sons; and her second husband, Eugene Wright.

Marie is lovingly survived by her sons, Fredrick V. (Renae) Da Grava and Curtis V. Da Grava; her grandchildren, Joston (Michele) Da Grava, Lara (Ryan) Finney, Richelle (Daniel) Takami, Nicholas (fiancée Carolyn) Da Grava, and Lauren Da Grava; and her seven beloved great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Alivia, Lily, Addy, Lydia, Acelynn, and RyAnn, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio, on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor William Westling officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

As we celebrate Marie’s life during what would have been her birthday week, we find comfort knowing that the love, laughter, kindness, and joy she shared with so many will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

No doubt she will never be forgotten. I had the privilege to be her daughter in law for years. We spent many holidays together and alot of time in the kitchen. Also vacations together when Joston and Lara were younger. Always marching to her own drum she never had a enemy. Rest easy Marie love you forever. Lori Tullis
