Obituary For Helen A. Mathieu Unsold

Helen A. Mathieu Unsold, 99, of Wintersville Ohio passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Valley Hospice. She born in Eureka, Kansas on June 8, 1926 the daughter of the late Stanley R. and Ora G. Mellinger Wickham. She was retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Co. Helen was a charter member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church and Starkdale Womans Assn.; and Unionport Order of the Eastern Star.

Preceding Helen in death were her first husband Jack R. Mathieu; second husband Jack F. Unsold and brother Russell R. Wickham.

Helen is survived by her children Lynn Mikesell, Robert D. (Deborah) Mathieu and Richard L. (Karen) Mathieu; seven grandchildren Jason Mikesell, Erin (Josh) Dennis, Robert (Deanna) Mathieu, Andrew (Andrea) Mathieu, Emily (Matthew) Earley, Erica (Jeff) Moorman and Brandon Mathieu; nine great grandchildren Brody, Madilynn, Makena, Grace, Bennett, Ella, Hattie, Cora and Lucas; sister-in-law Rita Wickham; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 2-4 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at Starkdale Church with Rev. Dr. G. Carl Moore officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stephen Kuruc, Dr. Kaitlyn Pitchok, Gables Nursing Home and Valley Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Valley Hospice or Starkdale Church.

    Condolences to the family of Helen. My Aunt, Carol Schmidt and Helen were dear friends. I remember visiting Helen many times with my Aunt. Helen was always such a kind person! Cyndi (Shanley) Beinkampen.

    Helen and my mother, Carol Schmidt were best friends since the 5th grade. They shared the birth of children, the loss of husbands and many wonderful times together. My thought and prayers are with lynn, Bob, Rick and their families. With love, Deborah Schmidt Brooks
