Obituary For Florence "Flo" Zobenica Shimko

Florence “Flo” Zobenica Shimko, 95, of Wintersville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord peacefully early in the morning on October 17, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-gran, great-great-grandmother, and friend whose presence will be missed. Florence was born in Steubenville, Ohio, on April 5, 1931, to Sophia and Nicholas Zobenica. She dedicated her life to her love of her family and the Lord, spending countless hours at her parish, Our Lady of Lourdes, singing in the church choir and as a member of the Catholic Women’s Club. Throughout her life, she enjoyed the simple pleasures like square dancing, fishing, camping, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers as an avid fan for ages. Her warm spirit and joyful smile has brightened the lives of everyone she encountered.

Flo is survived by her eldest son Andrew (Becky) Shimko, her daughter Debbie Scott and her companion Tom Miller, and her youngest son David (Laura) Shimko. Flo also left behind many beloved grandchildren, including Tiffany Shimko, Crystal Shimko, Andrea Shimko, Mike (Robyn) Scott, Maria Scott (fiancé Daniel Culp), Ashley (Anthony) Petrella, and Kristen Shimko. On top of the countless lives, Flo is survived by 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 9 siblings, her first love, Andrew Albert Shimko, her second lifelong partner, Millard B. Styer, and her son-in-law Don Scott.

Friends may call at Dunlope Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 10 am until the time of services at 12 pm with Fr. Michael Gossett officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family invites all who knew her to attend and share their favorite memories.
