Our family will be eternally grateful to the care team at the VA Hospital in Chillicothe. They treated our brother with respect and dedication.

Thank you to the United Mine Workers for never leaving David behind in retirement.

Our thanks to Attys. Sara Gasser and David LaRue for their assistance during our brother’s illness.

Our gratitude to John and the staff at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home for their care of David with such heartfelt kindness and patience.

David loved nature. If you wish to make a donation, he would have appreciated a donation to the National Park Foundation or the Audubon Society.

We already miss you, dearest Chug. Rest peacefully now in the endless ocean of God’s Love and Mercy. No more stormy seas. You are loved.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date.

Dearest Chug, I will always remember how we were always outside finding fun. Playing with you in the snow and how sweet you looked in your big snowsuit with your big green eyes astonished at our winter wonderland is such happy memory. Wasn't chasing chickens at Grampa and Grandma's our favorite thing, too? All the neighborhood dogs were your friends. They knew a good guy when they met one!! I will always see you in the hush of a new snowfall, the green of the forest, and the devotion of a puppy dog heart. Your heartfelt care for Mom revealed the son you were. I pray to be your sister again in a more perfect place and I hope to be a better sister then. I will always love you. Precious Brother, Brave Soldier rest peacefully in the endless Ocean of the Lord's Love and Mercy. Forever Sister, Linn.

Chug...I don't know where to begin. When you were born I was 12 years old and I claimed you as "mine"! I carried you around all over. Over the years you became my little "brother " and I will always consider you that way. You had such a big heart and so much compassion for animals. Your sense of humor was infectious...always had us laughing. RIP now and know that I will always love you. Love, Vicki 💙
