Cheryl L. Moodie, 73, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Valley Hospice North Care Center. Cheryl was born on January 22, 1953, in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late David Thornton & Elizabeth Yates Scott. Cheryl spent many years as a Transporter at Trinity West Medical Center, where she was known and loved by many patients.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband John R. Moodie, Jr.; mother Betty Scott; sons Sean Moodie & Christopher (Michelle) Moodie; daughter Ami Viola; ex-sons-in-law Douglas Viola & Curtis Adams; siblings David Thomas “Tom” Thornton & Vickie (Jimmy) Means; and eight grandchildren Tonya Smith, Haley Moodie, Spencer Adams, Chase Moodie, Christopher Moodie, Jr., Madelynn Adams, Reid Moodie & Jonathan Viola.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her biological father, David Thornton, and stepfather, Fay Scott.

Private family services will be held at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home with Dean Anderson officiating.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Southern Care Hospice for the extended care provided to Cheryl and to Valley Hospice for the care provided in Cheryl’s last days.
