Obituaries

Our dear aunt, Anna Marie Bass, 91 years young, passed away Tuesday evening at home with all of us around her.
She came here at the age of 17 from Munich, Germany, and quickly made her home, meeting her husband, Richard Bass, and marrying in 1959. They had a wonderful life together until his death in 1987.

Tante Anni loved bowling, playing cards, Bingo and later, the penny slots. She would be pretty excited just winning $ 10.
Our aunt became rather well-known in the community and at the Wintersville Methodist Church for her infamous German cookies that she baked. So many people loved them that she frequently received phone calls to make them for the holidays, which made her so happy and proud. Tante Anni loved being her dog Bentley’s mother and treated him like a beloved child.

We will miss her forever, but she leaves behind her two nieces, Heidi (Brandt Stover) Pflug and Sharon (Donnie) Long; great-nieces Kelsey (Paul) and Nicole (Mary); as well as the special little children she loved, Alessio, Arissa and Owen; as well as her family in Germany; and a host of friends.

Per her wishes, there will be no services.
