Bill was a very good friend with the Wilsac family. He and my sisters, Rose Marie and Sonja, always had fun times together. Especially, when they spent the day at Jefferson State Park. And it was a must that I go with them....mom's orders. I was much younger than them. When I was in high school, I went on vacation with Bill and my sister to his cabin in Canada. He loved the outdoors and the tranquility of it all. I interviewed for a job at the Union Savings Bank in Steubenville and Bill was my boss. He was down-to-earth, knowledgeable and a genuine kind person. I can't say enough of this one-of-a-kind individual. May his memories be eternal.

Bill was one of the most wonderful person I have ever known. I worked with Bill at UniBank as the network administrator and Bill would be right there with me under desks and hooking equipment up. He was my favorite boss of all times. I just ran into him a couple of months ago and it was wonderful to see him again. RIP my friend.

I was an executive secretary to Bill at UniBank for several years. He was wonderful to work for. He was funny, smart, generous, and sometimes sarcastic. He quietly went about doing good deeds and never wanted any recognition. He loved Christmas time, and I still have the many beautiful and generous gifts he gave to me. I cherish them and the memories of Bill, may he rest in peace....

I worked with Bill (and Lorie Swearingen, who posted elsewhere, here) as a computer consultant when it was still UniBank in the late 90s. It was always a pleasure to work with such a gracious, honest, and intelligent man. We accomplished much for the bank in those days, and I am proud to have known and worked with Bill. Rest in peace, old friend.

I was very saddened to hear that Bill had passed away. He was a wonderful man. I started working at the former Union Savings Bank & Trust Company in 1967. I was 18 and right out of high school. I had great respect for Bill and what he stood for. I especially loved to hear him laugh. His laugh was very contagious. In those early years, I would try to find stories that would make him chuckle. That's how much I loved to hear him laugh! Bill was the best boss I ever had in any job I had anywhere!bBill was kind to many people. I recall in my early years at the bank, that he was head of the Computer Department. Every Christmas, we would chip in and give money to another bank employee for Bill's Christmas gift. We always bought him nice warm sweaters that he could use on his ski vacations out west. I have many fond memories working at the bank and being around Bill McElwain. I called him a few years ago and told him that I really enjoyed working for him at The Bank. Of course, this also made Bill chuckle. That was why I said that! Rest In Peace, my friend.

I was saddened to hear of Mr. McElwain's passing. I worked with him for 21 years...starting with the Union Savings Bank and Trust Company through the days of UniBank. During my time working with him, I learned more than any education could have taught me. He was always readily available for a question and willing to pass along his banking and business knowledge to me. I was very fortunate to have Mr. McElwain as a boss as well as a mentor.
