William J. “Bill” Drennan 86 of Weirton, WV died Friday, April 8, 2005 at Trinity West. He was born in Carnegie, PA on October 2, 1918 to the late Thomas J. and Caroline Grunder Drennan. Bill was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and retired in 1980 from National Steel as a roll grinder. He was a life member and past commander of V.F.W. #2716 and former member of The Last Man’s Club. Bill served in the Army during WWII as a second class gunner and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with one bronze star, American Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Ribbon. Preceding Bill in death were his wife of 52 years Florence L. “Flo” Wright Drennan, whom he married on June 14, 1947 and she died November 15, 2001; and two sisters Caroline Mellott and Leona McDonald. Bill is survived by his children Carol (Eddie) Jones, William J. “Butch” Drennan, Jr., Richard (Maria) Drennan, Thomas (Rosalie) Drennan, Ronald (Pam) Drennan, Robert (Toni) Drennan all of Weirton; and his faithful companion Shadow, his dog. Private services and entombment were held Monday at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens with Rev. P. Douglas George officiating. Memorials may be directed to Valley Hospice, Inc.
