William F. “Bill” Wood, 84, of Steubenville passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Sunnyslope Nursing Home. He was born in Bellaire, OH on June 14, 1934 the son of the late E. Freeman and Gladys J. Schmitt Wood. Bill was retired as the area manager for the former Burger Chef Franchise and had also worked for Goshen Dairy in sales and M&M Hardware. He served 2 years active duty on the U.S.S. Camp in the Navy and served 37 years in the Navy Reserves as a Chief Petty Officer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy H. Mills Wood in 2002. Bill is survived by sons Jeffrey (Love) Wood of Wintersville and Douglas Wood of Steubenville; grandchildren Noah and Natalie Wood. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday 2-4 and 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018, 10a.m. with Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct graveside services. The family would like to thank Sunnyslope Nursing Home and Crossroads Hospice for their excellent care.
