William E. “Bill” Riley, 93, of Richmond, Ohio passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Valley Hospice Care Center North. He was born in Bergholz, Ohio on August 8, 1925 the son of the late Edward and Ina Jackson Riley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, to whom he was married for 60 years and two brothers Donald and John Riley and three sisters Edith (Doc) Swearingen, Evelyn (Leonard) Jackson, and Katherine (Art) Wilson. William served in the Army and was retired from Weirton Steel Co, where he spent much of his career working in the diesel shop. He was an avid golfer, known to his golfing buddies as “Birdie Bill”. Over the course of his golfing career, he recorded an incredible 8 holes-in-one. William was a member of Richmond United Methodist Church. Surviving are his two daughters, Linda (Steve) Hawkins of East Springfield, Ohio and Deborah (Terry) Mellendorf of New Albany, Ohio, his two granddaughters, Dr. Jennifer (Landon) Carter of Stephens City, VA and Kristen (Brandon) Ashwood of Warrenton, VA and his two great grandsons, Tyler and Alex Ashwood, and many loving nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Dunlope Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. with by Pastor Georgette Gaston officiating. Private burial at Holly Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Hospice or the Richmond United Methodist Church.
