Obituary For William E. "Bill" "Gunny" Gunion

William E. “Bill” “Gunny” Gunion, 67, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was born December 6, 1950 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late Clifford and Eva Testa Gunion. Bill was a member of Community of Christ Church in Follansbee, WV and a US Army veteran. He was a good drummer, loved rock and roll, his family and his pets. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, whom he married May 22, 1976, Romaine B. Oliver Gunion; two sons William Gunion, Jr. of Bloomingdale, OH and Adam (Lacie) Gunion of Columbus, OH; brother Ronald (Shirley) Gunion of Wintersville, OH and niece Leslie Gunion of Canton, OH. Friends may call at Dunlope – Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Monday 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. where a service will be held Tuesday 10:00 a.m. with Sam Oliver and Terry Mellendorf officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben. Memorial donations may be directed to American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

    To Bill's family and friends, so sorry for your loss!We went to FHS together and I used to go to his house on Randall Ave after school and watch him practice drums.He was indeed a good guy (great drummer) with a good heart. Wish we would a stayed in touch and I'm so sad to learn of his passing.Prayers your way,Terry Clark

    I was in The Eighth Day with Bill. I only saw him once after the band broke up. I spoke with his son on FB and heard he was ill. So sorry to hear this sad news.     Bill is now playing drums with all his idols.  He was one of a kind. No drummer in our area could touch him.  He was great. I know he will be sadly missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids Romaine.
