  We truly are sad to hear of Bill's passing. He was one of the best teachers I ever had. He made Civics class so interesting both in the subject taught and his presentation.   I send my condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Croskey . He will be missed by all who knew him as a great teacher and a man who truly enjoyed life and loved his hometown and showed it by the activities that he supported and worked. I last saw him at the Land Office while visiting home and enjoyed a long conversation reminiscing about S.H.S. and the Hi-Y Club that he had counseled. A sad day, may God bless him and all who loved him.

  I knew Bill it seems a hundred years we were kids together, and when we talked together I would always kid him about how he loved to tap and I liked to sing he was a great community asset and he will be missed by many. GOD SPEED BILL , he never let me forget my nickname, we also went to school together both of my children had him for a teacher.

  I too had Mr. C for my home room teacher from 70-74 and he was a true joy. He and Mom went all thru Grant School and SHS together and Mom said he was always the same. Those of us who knew him both personally and educationally are better people for it. He was a gift to the community and will be missed immensely. I have never known a teacher who always knew you when he saw you and always stopped to chat and catch up. I will miss him and ask God to give him eternal rest and peace. Until we meet again.

  Mr.C. was my homeroom teacher from 1970-1974. He was an excellent educator and carried himself with dignity.I ran into him this past July and even after not having seen me for 37 years he remembered me and even asked about my older sister and younger brother. He was still dressed to the nines and was even a kinder gentleman than I remembered. May God bless him and keep him close. My sympathy to those he leaves behind.

I remember how he was always so upbeat with all of his students and encouraged everyone to do their best work in school. Bill had a way of making you feel happy. I became a school teacher because of Bill and all of the wonderful teachers at SHS. I am sorry that I was unable to attend his viewing or funeral.   Dear Mal and the Croskey family, not only has Steubenville lost one of its finest citizens, we the Porter family have lost one of our dearest friends. I was fortunate enough to have known Bill since I was a child. I remember going out to Austin Lake and Bill teaching me to fish off his dock with just a string tied to my finger and a hook on the other end. Caught my first catfish. I can still hear Bill laughing as I stood proud for the picture of my catch. We miss you and will never forget the joy you brought to our lives. God bless you my friend and we will cherish the memories of the times we all spent together.

You made Civics come alive & I still remember our discussions in class, i.e. what would happen if we lost BOTH our President AND our V.P.? In 10 years we got to find out even though we could never have imagined it happening at the time. I got to know you the next holiday season when I was home from college & we both worked at McCauslen's. It was special knowing you as an adult as well as a student. My most sincerest sympathy.
