William D. “Bill” Hoover, Sr., 71 of Wintersville, Ohio died on Thursday, April 13, 2006 at Trinity West Medical Center. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on December 3, 1934 a son of the late Leroy and Helen Parks Hoover. He was a member of Wintersville American Legion Post 557 and Wellsburg V.F.W. Al was the former owner and manager of the BP Service station in Wellsburg. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Preceding Bill in death were five brothers. Surviving are his wife Carol Smith Hoover whom he married on September 20, 1954; son William “Bill” Hoover, Jr. of Steubenville; daughter Joyce (Larry) Fithen of Steubenville; four grandchildren Sharlene and Tina Hoover and Deann and Wesley Fithen; three great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild to be born soon; and brother Robert (Clara) Hoover of Arlington, TX. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Saturday from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Proya officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will provide military honors at the graveside.
