Obituary For William "Bud" Mellendorf

William “Bud” Mellendorf, 92, passed away March 25, 2025. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on June 6, 1932. He lived in Wintersville and Richmond, Ohio, until his move to Mt. Vernon, Ohio in 2007.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Jeannette Mellendorf and his wife, Dolores (Wilson) Mellendorf.

He is survived by his brothers, Howard (Bonnie) and Albert (Carol) and sister, Jeanne (Roy) Courier, children Terry (Deborah) Mellendorf, Nita (Scott) Thielke, and Eric (Clifton Willis) Mellendorf, three grandchildren, Brittany, Shelby and Miranda, and three great-grandchildren, Emmett, Nolan and Beckett.

William was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Radar Technician in the Air Force. William was retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel where he worked in the chemical lab. William was an ordained Elder in the Community of Christ, and most recently attended the First Baptist church of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, where he taught Sunday School.

William will be interred at Holly Memorial Gardens, in Colerain, Ohio next to his wife of 51 years, Dolores.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church at 303 S. Edgewood Road in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on Sunday March 30 at 2:00 pm.
