My Poppa was an incredible man who accomplished so much in the short time we're given here on earth. I feel truly blessed to have been his granddaughter and part of his family. He raised my dad to be the strong, hardworking, encouraging, and loving man that he is today. Poppa never missed an Easter, birthday, or Christmas. He always sent cards, and they were the best. I've kept every single one since I was twelve years old, and now at twenty-two, I'm so grateful to have this collection of memories to hold onto. He had such a kind heart, paired with a witty charm and a sense of humor that could light up any room. I'll miss him deeply, but I find peace knowing he's with my Grammy again. Marriage vows say "'til death do us part," but in death, they're together once more. I know she was watching over him, and now they can watch over us together. A loss like this is never easy. I'm praying for my parents to find the strength to endure and to uplift each other through the pain. Ecclesiastes 3 reminds us there is "a time to weep, and a time to mourn." This is that time, and we'll be mourning and crying with them. One memory I'll always cherish was the Christmas when Poppa said he'd only gotten us toilet paper, deodorant, and body wash. Come Christmas morning, we each opened a huge box and sure enough, there they were: soap, toilet paper, and all. We looked at each other in disbelief until my brother dug deeper and found a Wii remote. I found a Mario Kart game, and we all said, "But we don't even have a Wii!" Then, hidden at the bottom, was the Wii console itself. We were overjoyed, laughing, shocked, and so happy. It was one of the best Christmases ever, full of that signature Poppa humor. That day, we called to thank him, and he was so happy knowing he'd made us smile. Playing the Wii with my siblings became one of my favorite memories, and none of it would have happened without my amazing grandfather. Thank you for everything, all of the good memories and moments. Thank you for your service in our military, you did good for our country. Most of all, thank you for your support and encouragement for our family. Poppa, you will always be loved, remembered, and deeply missed.
