William B. Hanlin, 86, of Bloomingdale, Ohio died Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Dixon Health Care Center. He was born in Brilliant, Ohio on September 19, 1919 a son of the late Clarence and Bessie Haught Hanlin. Bill attended Wintersville Baptist Temple and was a member of Unionport Masonic Lodge 333 F&AM; Scottish Rite and Aladdin Temple. He retired from Weirton Steel strip steel welding shop after 30 years of service. Bill served in the Army Engineering Corp. during WWII in the European Theatre. Preceding Bill in death were two sons Jerry Lee and William, Jr.; two brothers Arnold and Glenn; and two sisters Lillian Vance and Opal Geiger. Bill is survived by his wife Ruth L. Rayl Hanlin, whom he married October 25, 1941; daughters Nadine (Frank) McEwen of Toronto, Ohio and Patricia (John) Clark of Bloomingdale; seven grandchildren, nineteen great and three great great grandchildren; brother Joseph and sister Sylvia Creamer both of Steubenville. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Dr. Rev. John Beard officiating. Burial at Bloomingdale Cemetery. Masonic services 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Cincinnati Shriners Hospital, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229 -OR- Baptist Temple, 617 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio 43953 Ohio Valley Veterans will conduct memorial services at the cemetery.
