Obituary For Wilbur N. Cunningham

Wilbur N. “Willy” Cunningham, 86, of Richmond, Ohio died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Sienna Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Wintersville. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio on February 13, 1929 the son of the late William O. and Frances A. Eshbaugh Cunningham. Preceded also in death by brothers William and Floyd and a sister Dorothy Gorby.

He retired as a technician from Ohio Bell and was a member of Wintersville Baptist Temple where he served as deacon; other memberships included Telephone Pioneers, Farm Bureau and a graduate of Jefferson Union Class of 1949. He was a veteran of U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife Janice K. Long Cunningham, whom he married on October 8, 1960; brothers Howard (Ada) Cunningham of Irondale, OH, Hugh (Karen) Cunningham of Mount Perry, OH, Forrest (Retha) Cunningham of Casselberry, FL; sisters Esther Murphy of Toronto, OH and Loretta (Joe) Bates of Woodsfield, OH.

Friends may call at Wintersville Baptist Temple, 617 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from noon until the time of funeral services at 2 p.m. Pastor William Block officiating. Private burial at Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia, OH. Military honors will be accorded at Wintersville Baptist Church by Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Church.

    I am so sorry to hear of Wilbur's passing. Both of you were such dear friends to my parents, Bill and Mary Freeman. I will always be so appreciative of all that Wilbur has done for them.
