Obituary For Wanda M. Montgomery

Wanda M. Montgomery, 87, of Steubenville  passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Trinity West after a brief illness.  She was born November 21, 1922 in Steubenville, OH the daughter of the late George C. and Helen I. (McCarthy)  Freeling.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Ardeth Valjean (John R.) Carpenter; infant son Clyde Freeling Montgomery and husband Joseph A. Montgomery, whom she married July 4, 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1995.  Wanda is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann (John T.) Mulrooney; granddaughter Erin Mulrooney; niece Helen I. (Terry R.) Seese all of Steubenville, OH; great niece Tracy (Jim) Kane and her sons J.J. and Christopher of Norton, OH.  Wanda was a homemaker and  long time member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was an  active member of American Red Cross, YWCA Board of Directors,  Woman’s Club of Steubenville, and Ladies Oriental Shrine. For years Wanda volunteered at the former Ohio Valley Hospital and the former St. John Medical Center.  She also volunteered at Trinity Health System and was a Trinity Wrapper.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday at 1p.m. with Rev. Jason Elliott officiating.  Burial at Union Cemetery.
