Walter L. Gaffney, Jr. 77 of Steubenville died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at Trinity West. He was born in Steubenville on April 14, 1927 a son of the late Walter L. and Agnes Agnew Gaffney, Sr. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and a graduate of the former College of Steubenville. Walter was retired from N.A.S.A. as a contract negotiator. He was preceded in death by four sisters. He is survived by his daughter Chris Gaffney of Steubenville, sons Sean (Diane) Gaffney of Lakewood, OH and Kevin (Masumi) Gaffney of Japan, brother James Gaffney of Midland, TX, sisters Eileen Rine of Columbus, OH and Betty Boyd of Harrisburg, PA, grandchildren Mariae and Kent Gaffney. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 12:30p.m. at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH.
