Virginia Marie Spurrier 88 of Weirton, WV, formerly of Unionport, OH, died Thursday, August 8, 2002 at Weirton Geriatric Center. She was born on January 21, 1914 in Dallas, WV a daughter of the late James and Dessa McWhorter Sampson. She was a former member of Dallas Methodist Church, Dallas, WV, and the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary Post 3526, New Cumberland, OH. She was a retired housekeeper for the late Mr. & Mrs. Guy Johnston of Steubenville. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Russell McCullough, 2nd husband Charles Spurrier, son Roy Eugene McCullough, brother Albert Sampson, sister Viola Imogene Pollard, stepchildren Richard Spurrier, Francis Smith, Charles McGrew, Winks McGrew. She is survived by sons Franklin (Barbara) Piatt of Steubenville, OH, Phillip Piatt of Barnesville, OH, daughters Phylliss (Cecil) Rutter of New Cumberland, WV, Madelyn (Raymond) Mann of Minerva, OH, Barbara (Clyde) McMillan with whom she resided of Weirton, WV brothers James Forest Sampson of Olegby, WV, Richard Lane Sampson of Reynoldsburg, OH, sister Violet Milliken of Little Washington, PA, stepsons James (Dorothy) Spurrier and Dwayne (Diane) Spurrier, stepdaughters Janet (Robert) Ewing and Drenda (Jack) Harris all of Unionport, OH, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., where services will be held on Monday at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Tim Colvin officiating.
