Virgil G. Rabe, 83, of Wintersville, Ohio died Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Trinity West ER. He was born June 7, 1935 in Steubenville a son of the late Fred & Carolyn Bushmier Rabe. He retired from Weirton Steel Co. Tin Mill; was a member of 25 Year Club and Jefferson County Sportsmans. Virgil served in USMC during the Korean War. Preceding Virgil in death were his siblings Floyd, Delmas, Rhoda & Freda.
Virgil is survived by his wife Carol L. Hoover Rabe; stepdaughters Jody Taylor-Pownall & Kim Stover; eight grandchildren Melissa, Thomas (Stephanie) & Matthew Hutter; Lindsey, Brennan, & Ethan Stover; Hannah Roberts and Katlin (Eric) Hughes; four great granddaughters Adalynn, Alexandra, Zara & Ayla; sisters Verna Patterson & Elma Schoppe.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday 1-4 p.m.; where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. Tom Bullard officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, checks may be sent to Alexandra Mae Hutter, 131 Vireo Drive, Wintersville, OH 43953; who is battling Fanconi Anemia (a terminal genetic disorder)
