Violet Recchie, 94, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in Canton, Ohio. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 6, 1924, a daughter of the late Samuel C. & Anna Godich Winovich. She enjoyed reading and trivia, but especially looked forward to the weekly visits and movie night with her “adopted” grandchildren : Monique, Aidan, Daniel, Elizabeth and Mary Sammut. She also cherished the random acts of kindness from their parents, Dr. Stephen & Joanne Sammut. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Eusebio, sisters Cecelia Yuricic & Dorothy Winovich and nephew Michael Yuricic. Violet is survived by her son Robert (Deloras) Recchie of San Antonio, TX; daughters Barbara Recchie of Cary, NC and Susan (Mark) Michael of Canton, OH; grandchildren Anjeanette (Dale) Giddings of San Antonio, TX, Danielle Evans of Columbus, OH and Jonathan Duncan of Santa Fe, NM. Also surviving are great granddaughters Isabella & Elizabeth Giddings, along with several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, OH on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Rick Dawson officiating. Susan, Bob, Barbara, & families: I worked with Vi in the Budget Store at Kaufmann's, so many great memories! Vi was like a second mom to all of us young kids who were just starting out. She always made sure to look for me when she was shopping at Macy's. She was a kind lady who was so proud of & loved her kids, grandkids & her Lord. Prayers for all of you.
