Violet M. “Vi” Terpenning, 83, of Bloomingdale, Ohio passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Valley Hospice Care Center North. She was born January 5, 1933 in York, OH a daughter of the late Lawrence and Adeline Cramer Crothers. Violet was a 1951 graduate of Wayne High School. She worked as a sales clerk at the former Gertrude Lee Candy. Violet was a past president of Wayne Elementary PTA; past president of Belvedere Fire Department Auxiliary and treasurer of Friends of Indian Creek. Preceding Violet in death were her grandson Lawrence D. Terpenning; sister-in-law Elizabeth Crothers and special friend Peg Welch. Surviving are her husband of 65 years, whom she married August 20, 1951, Paul K. Terpenning; daughter Darlene (Dr. William) Barson of Lewis Center, OH; son Lawrence (Colleen) Terpenning of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, who was adopted and raised as a daughter, Nikki Terpenning Martin of Nashville, TN; brother William Crothers of Wintersville, OH; five grandchildren Dr. Brent (Nicole) Barson, Dr. Ryan Barson, Chad Barson, Michelle Terpenning and Amanda Terpenning; great grandson, who was raised as a son, Dustin Terpenning; special niece Karen (Rick) Mathieu of Bloomingdale, OH and nine great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope – Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville Monday 6 – 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Troy Thacker officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bolger Country Club Manor and Valley Hospice for the compassion and care that Violet received. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
