Violet Jean Needham, 85, of Steubenville, OH passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Valley Hospice with her family by her side. She was born September 1, 1934 in Steubenville a daughter of the late James R. & Mary Ann Smith Taylor. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Violet loved her family, baking and cooking and was an avid Steeler fan. She never met a stranger. Preceding Violet in death were her son William “Pee Wee” Needham; grandson Mark Baker, Jr.; two brothers William & Robert Taylor and sister Norma Keyser.
Violet is survived by her husband and Sunshine of her life, William J. “Bill” Needham, whom she married on September 1, 1953; sons John (Cathy) Needham, Thomas (companion Shelly Haddon) Needham & Tim (Tina) Needham; daughter Bonnie Baker; three grandchildren Dalton Needham, Leigh Ann Arnfield & Crissy Needham; two great grandchildren Charley & Lydia Arnfield; sisters Mildred Link, Eleanor Painter, Mary Lou Kosikowski; brothers Clarence Taylor, James (Linda) Taylor & Donald (Debbie) Taylor.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the nurses and staff in the ICU and CVU units at Trinity West as well as everyone at Valley Hospice.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Sunday 1-4 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church with Msgr. Gerald E. Calovini officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.
Vigil service 3:45 p.m. Sunday

I've been best friends with her granddaughters since we were babies! She has always treated me like one of her own! I have so many wonderful memories of Gma Jean! One of the sweetest, nicest, loving people I've ever met! She will be missed greatly!!! Heaven gained the most beautiful angel!
