Vera Eloise Pompa , 81, of Wintersville, OH passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Valley Hospice North. She was born in Steubenville, OH on January 15, 1938 a daughter of the late Marion F. and Dorothy L. Martin Mellott. She was a member of Wintersville United Methodist Church, Methodist Women, Kindlers and Tri-State Writers Society. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Larry Mellott and her sister Deborah Gill. Eloise is survived by her husband Franklin “Danny” Pompa daughters Susan Guy of Wintersville, OH and Lisa Nottingham of Little River, SC; son Steven Pompa and his companion Julie Everhart of Columbus, OH; grandchildren David A. (Ashley) Guy, Jr. of Shallotte, NC and Heather Strang of Virginia; sisters Carol Castner of Wintersville, OH and Dorothy Jenkins of Columbus, OH; great granddaughter Madison Guy. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 12:30p.m. with Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. Memorials may be directed to the church.

I first met Eloise at another sad time, the funeral for her father, Marion. It was the first time I met the family, as Deborah and I had been together only a short time. Eloise made me feel welcome, and a part of the family. She continued to make me feel a part of the family as I got to know her better. I know Deborah thought the world of her.
