Susan Scott Celestin, 71, of Steubenville, Ohio died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Trinity West. Susan was born on September 18, 1939, the only child of the late Winfield R. and Dorothy W. Williamson Scott. She was a member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church. She had been living at Sienna Woods Nursing Center since July 2009. Susan graduated from Steubenville High School in 1957 and then received her undergraduate education degree from Bethany College and her masters in counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Susan taught fourth grade at Roosevelt School in the Steubenville school system for twenty-five years before retiring in 1995. In the community, Susan was very active in serving on the Boards of The Family Service Association and Martha Manor. She was an avid member of The Academy of Lifelong Learning, and served as its president. She also belonged to The National Education Association, The Steubenville Education Association and the Hemlock Twig of Ohio Valley Hospital. Among her hobbies were knitting, crocheting and sewing. Susan is survived by her husband, Andy, and three children, Beth (George) Van Weelden of Steubenville, Scott (Kathi) Celestin of Wintersville and Amy (Brad) Albert of Pinehurst, NC and four grandchildren, Megan and Susan Albert and Kasey and Karli Celestin. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday 2-4 and 6-8p.m. Friends may also call at Starkdale Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 10a.m. until time of services at 11a.m.with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will follow burial at the church.
