Steve Kovach, 82, of Rayland, Ohio died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the home of his daughter Gayle in Canfield, Ohio. He was born April 6, 1928 in Steubenville, Ohio a son of the late Louis and Elizabeth Foldi Kovach. Steve retired as an engineer after 36 years of service from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he was the yardmaster on the railroad. He served in the Navy during WWII as a navy radar man second class. He received, at the age of 16, for his service to this country the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Commendation Ribbon and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. Steve was a member of the NRA, Mingo Sportsman Club and a charter member of GKL Sportsman Club. Preceding Steve in death were his 1st wife Jean Houghton Kovach; 2nd wife Delores Bensie Kovach and three brothers George Kovach, Joseph Gabor and Charles Kovach. Surviving are his children Stephanie (Bud) Means of Toronto, OH, Pamela (Bruce) Brown of Toronto, OH, Gayle (Dean) Kline of Canfield, OH, Barbara (Galen) Bradley of Cincinnati, OH, William (Andrea) Bensie of Rayland, OH and Joel (Debbie) Bensie of Rayland, OH; two brothers Frank Kovach of Wintersville, OH and Louis (Lillian) Kovach of Brilliant, OH; two sisters Pricilla Fhlor of Bloomingdale, OH and Susie Vandine of Texas; 15 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Friday 4 – 7 p.m. where a service will be held Saturday 10 a.m. with Rev. Sam Retzer officiating. Burial at New Alexandria Cemetery where Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will perform military honors. Memorial donations may be directed in Steve’s name to Kolmont Community Church

I used to have so much fun at your house when we were a wee bit younger. Your mom and dad were always the best. I will always have fond memories of the time I got to spend with you and your parents.
