Stella Salanci, 90, of Steubenville, Ohio died Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Carroll Healthcare Center in Carrollton, Ohio. She was born in Neffs, Ohio on November 17, 1914, a daughter of the late John and Stephanie Matoszka Zimnox. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and an avid member of the Tri State Duplicate Bridge Club. Stella was a hair stylist for many years, having owned a beauty salon in the West End of Steubenville. Preceding Stella in death were her husband George T. Salanci in 1980; son Richard in 1963; stepfather Stanley Kozlowski; two brothers Walter “Duke” Zimnox and John Zimnox; and eight sisters including three infants Carrie Herman, Jean Anjeski, Sophie Zimnox, Ann Anthony, and Wanda Lopresto. Stella is survived by her daughter Rita Means of Wintersville; three grandchildren Rick (Denise) Means, Renee (J.R.) Coffland and Brian (Teresa) Means; six great grandchildren Brian George, Tyler, Nicole, Hunter, Heather Ann, and Jacob Richard. At Stella’s request there will be visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral liturgy with mass to celebrate her life 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius Church with Rev. Leonard Cencula officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius X Church.
