Stanley A. Koniski, 87, of Steubenville, Ohio died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Trinity West. He was born September 25, 1924 in Logrow, WV a son of the late Ignatz and Frances Chance Koniski. He was a member of the former St. Pius X Catholic. Stanley retired from National Steel as a millwright working in the BOP and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Stanley was preceded in death by his wife Verna Poprik Koniski on May 5, 2003; two brothers Eddie and Knute Koniski and four sisters Mildred Busick, Helen Jelski, Annie Ayers and an infant sister Genevieve Koniski. Surviving are three sons Tom Koniski of Steubenville, OH, Butch (Connie) Koniski of Wintersville, OH and William Koniski of Wintersville, OH; five grandchildren Brian Koniski, Teresa Pecar, Michael Koniski, Carman Koniski and Cristopher Koniski; ten great grandchildren; three brothers John Koniski of Steubenville, OH, Joseph Koniski of Wintersville, OH and Ted Koniski of Wintersville, OH and two sisters Sophie Pavel of Weirton, WV and Adeline (Tony) Betti of Las Vegas, NV. Friends may call at Dunlope - Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Thursday 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. where a funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. with Msgr. William Cornelius officiating. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery where Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct military honors. Vigil Service Thursday 3:45 p.m.
