Stacy E. Kerr Zimish, 41, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family and loyal dog Skip at her side. Born April 12, 1970 in Steubenville, Ohio, she was a 1988 graduate of Steubenville High School and 1992 graduate of Franciscan University. Stacy was a nurse in the maternity department at Weirton Medical Center for 18 years, as well as an instructor at Mercy Hospital and Franciscan University. She dedicated her career to bringing life into the world and sharing her pursuit of knowledge with others. Stacy courageously fought Lou Gehrig’s disease for eight years, never once allowing it to define her life. While she was given a bad break, she knew there were many more great things to live for. Stacy will be remembered for her strong will and genuine kindness. Taken from this life too soon, Heaven now has one more angel with wings to watch over us. She is survived by her husband Todd M. Zimish; children Zachary, Allie, and Zane; parents William T. and Ruth Penn Kerr; brother Tom (Shannon) Kerr and sister Lisa (Dr. James) Vodvarka. The family would like to thank Valley Hospice and the community for their unwavering support. Stacy Zimish will be forever missed by her family, friends, and each person she touched in this life. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville on Friday from 2 - 7 p.m. and on Saturday at Bell Chapel U.M. Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Proya officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.

I worked many years with Stacy on OB. She loved her coworkers as we loved her. She also cared for her patients from lowly to lofty with the same easy grace. Zach,Allie,& Zane you are now charged with keeping her legacy alive. Your mom loved and cared for you in a way that every parent should be proud to emulate. You were her world. Stacy will be missed here on earth and now heaven is so lucky to have her.

I had the pleasure of knowing Stacey, through a mutual friend, while working at Weirton Medical Center. She was truly blessed to be such a wonderful, loving and caring person to know. She thought the world of her children. Her courage, strength and outlook during her illness was remarkable and I admired her for that. May she rest in eternal peace in the heavens above us. To Todd Zimish and family, I worked with Todd, at Stambaugh's, many years ago. I also had my son, at Weirton Medical Center, where Stacy was the nurse. From the first time, I met Stacy, I felt comfortable, around her. It was as if,I have known her for along time. I could clearly see that being a nurse, wasn't just a job, for Stacy. My heart goes out to you, Todd, and your family, in your time of loss. You are in my prayers!!!

Stacys family, I didnt get the priveledge to meet Stacy until after she was sick. I can say that she is truley one of those people who come into your life and change it. If i was having a bad day at work, after being around Stacy for just a few minutes,my attitude changed, she was a joy, never complained, and saw humour in her situation , a living angel, she was proud of her children and family as im sure you are proud of her. Thank you Stacy for your inspiration.

You are now with our Dear Jesus and you will be missed here on this earth more than you will ever know. I remember you being there for each and every birth of Angela's. You always came in the room with your wonderful smile. With her last one, Ashley, you came in with your walker and we knew you didn't have to do that, but you did because that was the kind of wonderful person you were. We will miss you more than words could ever express. We love you and will be there for your children when ever they need us Stacy. There are so many people that you will live in their hearts forever, even when we are gone from this earth. You were a very loving person and always had time for everyone. I know you missed our last party and understand but so glad you enjoyed the ballgames with your children. Love you forever. Prayed to my momn and bothers to welcome you to heaven, although they have never met you, they will know you now and what a special person you are. My prayers are now for you and your children that they understand that you are forever our angel. You are such an inspriation to all of us Stacy. I thank you for that. Love you forever and ever in my heart. Betty Ann
