Sophia Liggett, 99, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Weirton Medical Center. She was born May 11, 1920 in Steubenville a daughter of the late Dmitar and Milica Livada Yaich. She was a member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church and Sveta Petka Kolo. Sophia retired from Ohio Bell as a telephone operator. Preceding Sophia in death were her husband Dean L. Liggett; daughter Cathy Liggett; grandson Robbie Liggett; two sisters Martha “Tootsie” Busic & Ann Nodianis; and five brothers Eli “Q Ball”, George “Fagan” and Jerry Yaich & two infants.
Sophia is survived by her sons Paul D. (Janet) Liggett, with whom she resided & Mark D. Liggett; two grandsons Bryan & Sean Liggett; and four great grandchildren Kamryn, Evan, Brenna & Avery.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday 1 -4 p.m. On Monday, friends may call at Holy Resurrection Serbian Church, 530 N. Fourth Street, Steubenville from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stefan Doric & Very Rev. Rade Merick officiating.
Pomen service 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial at Serbian Cemetery, Steubenville, Ohio.
