Sophia K. Sayre 88 of Wintersville, died Wednesday, January 29, 2003 at Country Club Manor, Steubenville. She was born in Steubenville on July 27, 1914 a daughter of the late Andrew and Stephanie Abramowicz Surell. She attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was a member of Friendship Club of Wintersville. She was a retired L.P.N. having worked at the former Gill Hospital and St. John Medical Center, both in Steubenville. Sophia was a member of the first graduating class of L.P.N.s from Gill Hospital. Preceded in death by first husband August J. Sullivan who died 4-3-1956, 2nd husband Russell K. Sayre who died 1-17-1993, two brothers Walter and Anthony Sural, one sister Mary Serafine, step-brother Cas Kalicinski. Survived by two daughters Judith (Fred) Call and Kathy (Michael) Allen, both of Wintersville, sisters Clara Camerlengo and Ida “Incia” (John) Saggio, both of Steubenville, step-sons Dr. Blaine (Judi) Sayre and Samuel Sayre both of St. Louis, MO, step-daughter Gail Hamilton of Iuka, MS, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Friends may call on Friday from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville. Funeral Liturgy with Mass on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Wintersville with Msgr. Gerald Calovini officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville. Memorial contributions can be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
