Sheila D. Dowdell, 72, of Wintersville, OH passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at West Penn Hospital. She was born in Steubenville on July 15, 1948 a daughter of the late Kenneth and Hildreth Ketler Banks. Sheila was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and served as a lector. She also attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hopedale. Sheila was a member of Order of Eastern Star #360, Unionport, OH and Unionport Auxiliary Fire Department. She worked at the Salvation Army for many years being involved in clerical work. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Cheryl Banks. Sheila is survived by her husband James M. Dowdell; sons Jim Dowdell and Jason (fiancée Pamela Haught) Dowdell, both of Wintersville; beloved dog Abby and cat Sophie. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Thursday from 3-5p.m. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020, 10a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Gossett as celebrant. Burial at Fort Steuben. Memorial contributions can be made to Blessed Sacrament or The Salvation Army.
