Sarah Medick, 86, of Mansfield, TX, formerly of Columbus, OH, passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Methodist Medical Center. She was born Nov. 19, 1928, in Steubenville, a daughter of the late Michael "Cooley" and Evica Sipus Merrick. She was a founding member of St. Stevan of Dechani Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church in Columbus. In addition to being a former member of Petar Krstich Choir, Sarah formed and was the first director of the St. Stevan Church Choir. She retired from the State of Ohio as an insurance regulatory agent. Preceding Sarah in death was her brother, George Merrick. Sarah is survived by her son, David P. Medick; grandsons, Philip J. (Cindy) Medick and David M. (Mindy) Medick; three great-grandchildren; sister, Bonita "Bunny" (Robert) Gottesman; sister-in-law, Annette Merrick; nephew Michael Merrick and niece, Maria Harrington. Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home (formerly McClave Funeral Home), 611 N. Fourth Street, Steubenville, OH on Friday from 5-7 p.m. On Saturday, friends may call at Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church, 528 N. Fourth Street, Steubenville, OH from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Very Rev. Rade Merick officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Pomen service 6:45 p.m. Friday.
