Samuel R. Gaylord 92 of Steubenville died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Trinity West, Steubenville. He was born on January 5, 1910 in Braddock, PA the son of the late Thomas and Concetta Cortese Gaylord. He was Catholic by faith and had attended St. Anthony Catholic Church, Steubenville. He was employed at Republic Steel in Lackawanna, NY as a roller in the 1930’s, and worked as a machinist for the Yoder Company, Cleveland, OH in the 1940’s, he later worked for the Berkmann Company, Steubenville, before starting his own construction business, Steel Valley Construction, and retired at the age of 77. He was proceeded in death by his wife Florence A. Cooper Gaylord (died: 2/5/1998), sisters Virginia Gaylord, Theresa Gaylord Garvey and Angeline Gaylord Williams. He is survived by sons Thomas Gaylord of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Gaylord of Chesterton, IN, daughters Virginia Lacko and Patricia Priscilla both of Steubenville, OH, grandson Ronald Gaylord with whom he resided, Steubenville, 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren. Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 2502 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, OH. Services will be held on Saturday 10:00A.M. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Steubenville with Fr. Timothy J. Shannon officiating.
