Obituary For Salvatore J. Pate

Salvatore J. Pate, 82, of Steubenville, Ohio died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Trinity West. He was born August 9, 1928 in Steubenville a son of the late Bonaventura & Domenica DiCara Pate. He was a retired mail carrier for the US Postal System and served in the Marines during the  Korean War. Sal was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church; V.F.W. and a life member of Tri State Marine Corps Club. Preceding Sal in death were his wife Shirley L. Shinko Pate, whom he married on April 11, 1953 and she died December 16, 1997; and twin infant brothers. Surviving are his sons David (Cynthia) Pate of Lyons, OH, Stephen (Barbara) Pate of Marysville, OH & Kevin Pate of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren & one great grandchild; two brothers Joseph (Donna) Pate of Steubenville & Ronald (Rosemary) Pate of Wintersville; two sisters Angeline (Thomas) DiBattista of Follansbee & Marie (Thomas) Clancey of Weirton. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.  Funeral liturgy with mass 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church with Msgr. Gerald E. Calovini officiating. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Vigil service 7:45 p.m. Sunday. Tri-State Marines will conduct services at the cemetery chapel.
