Ruth Schumann Montgomery, 92, of Steubenville, Ohio died Monday, April 3, 2006 at her residence. She was born March 28, 1914 in Steubenville a daughter of the late Charles H. and Anna Hailes Schumann. Ruth was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church; a life member of LaBelle Chapter 414 Order of Eastern Star; and an eighty year member of the Y.W.C.A. A fifty-five year life member of Steubenville Womans Club G.F.W.C. of Ohio, Ruth served as chairman of the Civic Dept., chairman of the Board of Trustees and charter member of the Community Affairs Dept. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James W. Montgomery; son Walter “Jay” Montgomery; son-in-law Dr. J.J. Macedonia; sister Mildred Nixon and brothers Karl and Dr. Robert Schumann. Surviving are her daughters Diane Macedonia of Steubenville, Joan Broomfield of Dearborn Heights, Michigan and Suzanne (James) Peschl of Toronto, Ohio; daughter-in-law Mary Louise Montgomery of Martha Manor; ten grandchildren William Stout, Merilee (Jeffrey) Pesta, Marla (William “Bill”) Phillips, Shari Stout, Lori (Robert) Sebest, Kenneth J. Montgomery, John J. (Angela) Hukill, Marci (Michael) Verdon, Mica (Derek) Boerner and Tracy Broomfield; eight great grandchildren Jennifer & Jeffrey Pesta, Ian & Isabella Phillips, Alexandria Hukill, Chloe Sebest, Olivia & Audrey Hukill. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. David Massimi officiating.
