Marjorie R. “Ruth” Kunkle, 86, of Steubenville, Ohio died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Trinity West. She was born March 8, 1927 in Toronto, Ohio. Ruth was a secretary for the Steubenville Board of Education. She was a member of Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, Steubenville Women’s Club and Sweet Adelines. Ruth enjoyed playing and winning cards with friends and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed singing songs with her son accompanying her on guitar on the back porch. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur T. “Bill” Kunkle, Jr.; sisters, Barbara Freeland, Virginia Carlson and Beatrice DeAngelis and brothers, Paul Ball and Jack Ball and Al and Gene Criss. Surviving are her son, Karl W. Kunkle and loving daughter-in-law, Dr. Gay A. Herrington of Pittsburgh, PA; granddaughters Allison K. Kunkle (studying abroad in Denmark) and Katherine Ruth "Unit" Kunkle at home; brother, Pat Criss; sister, Charlene Peterson; sister and brother-in-laws, Shirley Barnett of Steubenville and Capt. Raymond L. Kunkle (USMC, Ret.) of San Clemente, California; nieces, Jan McIntosh, Beth Christopher, Patty Barnett and Lynn Connor and nephews, Charles "Chad" Kunkle and Yiannis Psaroudis. She was lovingly cared for daily in her final years by Tammy Cyrnanski, Susan, Joann, Patty and others. Friends may call at Dunlope – Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Tuesday 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Proya officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.
