Ruth Vance Wingate, 98, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Country Club Manor. She was born on September 5, 1922 in Youngstown, Ohio a daughter of the late Fred Hopkins and Mary Phillips Hopkins Berry.
She was a member of Wintersville Baptist Temple, where she served as secretary for many years. Ruth was also a secretary at the former Vance Insurance Agency in Wintersville and a homemaker.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands Delbert P. Vance (1983) and Rev. Ralph E. Wingate, Sr. (2017); parents and stepfather Kenneth Berry.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Virginia “Ginny” (John) Mascio of Steubenville; three grandchildren Judge John (Lori) Mascio of Steubenville, Dr. David (Cheryl) Mascio of Oakdale, PA and Attorney Karen (John) Romano of Harrisburg, PA; three great grandsons Dominic and Nicholas Mascio and Luca Romano; sister Margaret Martin of Kennesaw, GA; and three stepchildren Rev. Ralph E. (Sydney) Wingate, Jr., Rev. Dan (Karen) Wingate and Sandra (Jeff) Clarke.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Revs. Ralph and Dan Wingate officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
Ruth’s family would like to thank Country Club Manor for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
