Ruth E. Roberts, 84, of Wintersville, OH died Friday, February 17, 2012 at D & D Quality Care, Weirton, WV. She was born in Steubenville on April 27, 1927 a daughter of the late Frank and Georgia Moran VanKirk. Ruth was a member of Finley United Methodist Church and had worked the Republican Election Polls for many years. Preceded in death by her husband John Henry Roberts, Jr.; brother Frank “Hank” VanKirk; sisters Blanche Clapham and Anna Keifer. Ruth is survived by her sons Dan (Frankie) Roberts of Fayetteville, NC and Roger (Lori) Roberts of Wintersville, OH; her daughters Joy Lapoczka of Rayland, OH and Jo-Ann (Dave) Gibson of Mingo Junction, OH; two brothers William "Wolf" VanKirk of Steubenville, OH and Jim VanKirk of Wintersville, OH; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Sunday 3-7p.m., where funeral services will be held Monday 11:30a.m. with Rev. Delbert Lash officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
