Ruth Ann Mularcik was called to the Heavenly Father on May 13, 2016 after an extended illness. Born July 15, 1943, the daughter of William Alexander Monroe and Otie Pearl Moore Monroe, she was 72 years of age. She was a generous and loving mother and wife and well-known business person in the Ohio Valley. She is survived by daughter, Tracey L.(Kenneth) Westfall of Harrisville, WV; daughter, Jodi Rae (Kevin) Solomon of Charlotte, NC; son, Bradley S.(Paula) of Copley, OH; brother, James W.(Peggy) Monroe of Morristown, TN; sister, Dora K Laing of Richmond, MI; sister, Emma Lou (Jack) Lee of Sprague, WA; sister, L.Virginia Williams of Fredericksburg, VA; sister, Rosalee (Eric) Crozier of Bellaire, OH; four grandchildren, Jessica Rae and Joshua Solomon and Bradley, Jr and Frank Mularcik. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Mike; her parents; brother Charles M. Monroe; brother, Francis M. Monroe. Born in Shadyside OH, Ruth moved to St. Clairsville, OH at age 15 where she worked for Dr. Robert & Marcie Lewis as domestic assistant for 2 years. During that period she met and married Michael H. “Mike” Mularcik, Jr. of St. Clairsville, on July 19, 1961 in Cumberland, MD. They resided in Provident, OH until 1969. In 1969 she and Mike relocated and founded Kirby Company of Steubenville, later changing the name to Mike’s Sweeper Center. In 1973, she was named “Kirby Wife of the Year” by Kirby Company. They moved to Wintersville, OH in 1973, where they resided the rest of their lives. Ruth and Mike operated Mike's Sweeper Center for more than 44 years. In 2013 they sold their business and retired from the vacuum cleaner business. Ruth started collecting bells in the early 1970’s and joined the American Bell Association, Intl in 1973. She served as Treasurer of the Pittsburgh Chapter for nearly 40 years. As a very active member of the ABA, she was very knowledgeable about the history of bells. She often wrote articles for the ABA’s international publication, The Bell Tower, and made dozens of presentations on various historic bells at local meetings as well as presentations at the annual ABA National Conventions. Ruth was a recognized authority on glass bells, especially those made in the Ohio River valley and was frequently consulted by others for her expert opinion. Through her research she was compelled to create a historic video record of bell manufactured by The Imperial Glass Company. Her massive collection exceeded 12,000, including ceramic, glass, brass & bronze bells ranging from necklace-sized to 44” diameter church carillon bells. She and Mike named their homestead “The Bells of Beechwood”, as several large bells were displayed in their yard and around their property. Ruth and Mike made many fun-filled trips around the country with “Bell Friends”. Ruth and Mike owned many properties throughout the Steubenville area and Ruth enjoyed assisting with the remodeling and management of those properties. She was also an active member of the Jefferson County Landlords’ Association. Ruth was a dynamic personality and found joy in every endeavor. She loved to fish on local lakes with Mike and other family & friends, frequently hauling in the largest catch of the day! Ruth loved to sing and also played guitar. She loved sharing old time music with her family and drew great joy from passing down the old songs to her grandchildren. Ruth was a dedicated and devoted wife, sharing a unique friendship and deep love with her husband for 54 years. They loved to hop in the car and go to flea markets and on bell-hunting excursions. She loved to cook and her kitchen was always open. Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Homes, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville. Calling hours will be Saturday, May 28 from 2-4p.m. & from 6-8p.m. Funeral Service will be Sunday, May 29 at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Jack L. Ernest officiating. Graveside services will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.

Mrs Ruth, There are so many things I can say about you and I don't know where to begin. Twenty years ago you took me under your wing with open arms. Treated my family like we was yours. Emotionally, Physically, and Financially. You were like a mother figure to me and I will never forget all the things you did for my kids and I. Heaven has gained another angel. I will miss seeing your face. Your with your husband now. Until we meet again. I love you, Diana Brown
