Ruth A. Polen of Bloomingdale, OH died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at home of natural causes. She was born in Belleville, IL a daughter of the late John H. and Elizabeth M. Ehrhold Bauer. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Steubenville, Catholic Daughters of America, Women’s Auxillary American Legion, Post 33, Ostomy Society, and board member of Jefferson County Metropolitan Housing Authority, where she was past president. She was retired from the Jefferson County Metropolitan Housing Authority where she was general housing manager. Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Carmichael, second husband William C. Polen, son Robert Carmichael, brothers John, Charles, Fred and George Bauer, sisters Alvina Hutchcraft, Frances Browning, Ethel Arras, Helen Foulds and Bertha Siegler. She is survived by a daughter Pamela A. (Robert) James, with whom she resided, of Bloomingdale, son Thomas (Lillian) Carmichael of Cincinnati, OH, granddaughters Amy (Todd) Vandine of Wintersville, Kelli (Chris) Williams of Columbus, OH and Michelle (Rob) Morgan of Cincinnati, OH, grandsons Sean (Michelle) Carmichael of Cambridge, OH, Thomas (Marquetta) Carmichael and Gregory (Sahra) Carmichael, both of Cincinnati, OH, step-grandsons Brian James of Wintersville, and Jeremy James of Unionport, OH, great granddaughters Nicolle, Isabella, Jessica, Maria, Allyson, Ashley and Annie, great grandsons Evan, Gregory, Andrew, Nicholas, William and Joseph. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville on Thursday from 6-9p.m. Funeral liturgy with Mass on Friday 10a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Chruch, Steubenville with Fr. Leonard Cencula officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville. Vigil services Thursday 8:45p.m.
