Roy Dawson, Jr., 75, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away June 15, 2006 at his residence with his children by his side. He was born August 6, 1930 in Steubenville a son of the late Roy Dawson, Sr. and the late Daisy Driscoll Zambora. Roy retired from Weirton Steel. A 1948 graduate of Steubenville High School, Roy served in the Army during the Korean War. Preceding Roy in death were his wife Elsie M. “Dee” Long Dawson on November 28, 2001; and one brother William A. Dawson. Surviving are two daughters Sue Kendall of Wintersville and Marti (Cliff) Lower of Colliers, WV; four sons Kenneth “Lumpy” Dawson of Wintersville, Lonnie (Raelene) Dawson of Manhattan, KS, Rick (Rose) Dawson and Randy (Donna) Dawson of Steubenville; eight grandchildren Kenni Jo, Wayne, Nicole, Shannon, Amy, Adam, Joey, and Travis; seven great grandchildren and two on-the-way; three sisters Mary Nash, Linda Gainer & Cathy Scardina all of Wintersville; and many good friends at Manfred’s. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. where services will be held 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. Randy Sells officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorials in Roy’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
