Ronald James Starr, Sr. 71 of Wintersville, Ohio passed away Monday, October 27, 2003 at home after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Steubenville on October 19, 1932 a son of the late William J. and Myrtle L. Bickerstaff Starr. Ronnie retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in 1995 from the B.O.F. after 44 years of service. His intelligence, kindness and gentle nature will be remembered by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by two sisters Ina Glassier and Nora Burnett. Ronnie is sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Helen V. Ferguson Starr and family, son Ronald J. (Paula) Starr, Jr. of Naples, FL, daughter Helen “Deanie” (Gerald) Cornish of Toronto, Ohio, son Lawrence Starr of Colorado Springs, CO, daughter Jean (Michael) Zirille of Gallipolis, Ohio and son James Starr of Wintersville; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers William Starr of Milwaukee, WI and Jerry (Judy) Starr and Dale (Irene) Starr both of Wintersville; and one sister Myrtle (Greg) McGuire of Richmond, Ohio. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be private at the request of the family and entombment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice, Inc.
