Obituary For Ronald Dean Matthews

Ronald Dean Matthews, 77, of Wintersville, Ohio died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Trinity West. He was born February 12, 1942 in Wheeling, WV a son of the late William W. & Jessie M. Wilburn Matthews. He was a member of Harmony U.M. Church and Wintersville American Legion Post 557, having served in the Army during the VietNam War. Ronald Dean worked in the construction business.

Surviving are his six siblings Donald (Donna) Matthews, Dorothy Dehnart, David Matthews, Earl “Calvin” (Patricia) Matthews, Betty Jean Ruttencutter & Joyce (Jim) Rine; a friend who was like his son Shawn Brody; many nieces & nephews.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Tuesday 3-6 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Sam Davis officiating. Burial at New Alexandria Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to American Legion Post 557, P.O. Box 2387, Wintersville, OH 43953

    Although we really didn't know him, His brother Dave Is a very dear friend to the point we have started calling him "Uncle Dave."   Rest in The Lord's Peace and Comfort.   Our Prayers are with his family.

    So sorry for your loss. My family knew all of you . We were neighbors. Although Ron was a few years older than me I knew him well. Talked to him several times at the Legion. He VC will be missed. Thinking of you all.
