Roberta Shanley passed away peacefully in Wintersville, Ohio on March 4, 2024 with her daughters beside her, holding her hands. She was born January 1, 1930 in Dover, Ohio a daughter of the late Robert & Gladys Palmer. She was raised and lived her life in Wintersville, Ohio. Roberta graduated from Wintersville High School and earned a RN degree at the age of 20 from Ohio Valley Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1950. Also the same year, she married her husband of 70 years, Bill Shanley. After working for several years at Ohio Valley Hospital, she became a full-time stay at home mom upon having their first child. Once her children were grown, she worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Shanley Contracting Inc. Roberta was a skilled seamstress, making everything from formal gowns, her children’s clothes to Barbie clothes. Her hobbies were knitting, crocheting, embroidering, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Smart, funny and loving, Roberta was a wonderful wife and mother, making her children her life. She was a lifelong member of the Wintersville Methodist Church, where she was married.
Roberta is preceded in death by Bill, her husband of 70 years; son Jeff Shanley; sister and brother-in-law Carol & Charles Schmidt; brother John Palmer; sister-in-law Donna Palmer and son-in-law Pete Beinkampen.
Roberta is survived by her daughters Cynthia (Michael Denmark) Beinkampen and Lisa (David Helba) Shanley; grandsons Justin (Ryanne) Beinkampen and Jay Shanley; granddaughter Jenna (John) Bishop; great grandchildren Carter Beinkampen and Shanley Bishop and many nieces and nephews that she loved.
Per the family’s request, there are no services.

So sorry to hear of your sweet Mom's passing. I have wonderful memories of her growing up in Beechwood. Such a kind lady. Heaven has gained another angel and she and your Dad are together again. ❤️🙏
